Our Community Day is a celebration of everything that makes our neighbourhood special — connection, creativity, and community spirit! This year, it’s extra meaningful as we honour the life and legacy of the late Cllr Melville Durrant, our dedicated volunteer groundskeeper of over 40 years 

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Live Music & Performances – Mounts Bay, Wild Blue & Yonder, plus SCAMPZ Duo will take to the stage throughout the day.
  • Tros an Treys - Here to get you moving and flowing in the traditional Cornish way. 

Skate Bowl Zone

  • Skate Bowl Jam - Throw some knock out moves in the bowl and earn yourself a Sessions T-shirt!!
  • BMX Demo - watch the Pro's in action!!
  • Public Consultation – Share your ideas with us on how you'd like to see the skate bowl develop.

Dogzone

  • Dog Show – Bring your pup to the Rosevean Vets dog show and enter fun categories like Waggiest Tail, Cutest Puppy, and Best Trick!
  • Dog Training Demos – Meet Elsa and Cosmo from Woofing Wild for canine training demos and interactive classes.
  • Clipped, and ready to go!! - Get your pooch show fit with a clip, treats and accessories from our doggie stalls.

Lifestyle Area

  • Golden Zone - Visit the wellness area for advice, hints and tips on how to zen out!
  • Sauna and Dipping Pool - Let off some steam in the sauna tents. 
  • Retail Stalls & Local Makers – Shop handmade goods, gifts, preloved toys, and local delights.

Food Court

  • Cooking Demonstration - Watch some flaming examples as WAC teach you safe BBQing skills in time for summer! 
  • Food Vendors – Tuck into delicious eats and deserts from a variety of cuisines or bring along a picnic! With BBQ burgers and hotdogs, chicken and halloumi burgers, and waffles, pastries, vegan cakes and coffee, ice cream, and cookies, we've got something for everyone!
  • By donation - Visit the Rec team for builders tea and coffee, but if you fancy something special Be Kind's your place to go.

KidZone

  • Kids’ EntertainmentBouncy Castle Kingdom, guess the Teddy's name, dance, and more.
  • Sports & Play Zones – Try our taster sessions, including football and physical activities led by local groups.
  • Tombola & Lucky Dip – Hosted by Food For Families, raising funds to support their amazing work with local people in crisis.

It’s a day for connection, fun, and local pride — whether you want to chill with a picnic, get stuck in with volunteering, or find out how to get involved in the Rec’s future.

Calling All Volunteer Stewards

Join us on Saturday 7th June for our Community Day at Princess May Recreation Ground – a celebration of community spirit, remembrance, and fun!

We're looking for friendly, reliable, and calm individuals to help us create a safe, welcoming space for everyone.

  • Willing to work as part of a team
  • Enthusiastic about supporting the community

From the A30 Direction: 

Travel along Eastern Green/A30 past Sainsbury's.

Take the second exit (get into the right hand lane) at the next roundabout, continuing on the A30, signposted to Land's End.

At the next roundabout take the 1st exit to Treneere.

Travel 0.2 miles along Treweath Road until your reach the Princess May Recreation Ground on your left (opposite Humphry Davy school).

From Newlyn Direction:

For 0.7 miles, travel along The Coombe/B3315.

Turn right onto the A30.

Go straight ahead (2nd exit) at Mount Misery roundabout.

At Heamoor roundabout take the 3rd exit.

At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit to Treneere.

Travel 0.2 miles along Treweath Road until your reach the Princess May Recreation Ground on your left (opposite Humphry Davy school).
